From the powertrain to the suspension and brakes, the 2012 FIAT Abarth is designed to take on the high performance and enduring needs to track driving. The following are all Abarth specific hardware upgrades over the standard FIAT Sport.
Powertrain upgrades include: All new 1.4 liter MultiAir® Turbo engine with twin intercoolers, Abarth-tuned powertrain control module (PCM), Abarth designed high-flow intake and exhaust system, heavy-duty five-sped manual transmission with 3.35 final-drive ration, Intermediate shaft with equal length half shafts, larger constant velocity (CV) joints, Abarth tuned Torque Transfer Control (TTC) system with a differential locking system, forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, lightened engine counterweights, forged-aluminum pistons and piston cooling jets.
Chassis/suspension upgrades include: Dual-valve Frequency Selective Damping (FSD), KONI® front-shock absorbers, lowered front and rear ride height, stiffer front and rear springs, 0.6-inch (15 mm) lower ride height, cast-aluminum front lower control arms and 1.5 degree negative camber, 10 percent quicker steering responsiveness (now 15.1:1 - up from 16.3:1), reinforced twist-beam rear axle with strengthened coil-spring supports, solid rear-stabilizer, larger 11.1-inch diameter ventilated front rotors, semi-metallic brake linings, Abarth-tuned ESC system with "full off," available forged-aluminum 17-inch wheels with high-performance three season 205/40 R17 Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires.

SPORT MODE: Sometimes you feel like tearing through the streets and showing corners no mercy (while driving responsibly, of course)! That's when it's time to engage the standard-equipped Sport mode that unleashes the full power of the 1.4-liter 16v MultiAir Turbo and provides performance-weighted steering.
ECONOMY MODE: Say you're going to the grocery store and your FIAT 500 Abarth is in Economy mode. The torque in first and second gears will be limited to enhance fuel efficiency and minimize CO2 emissions (now that's really driving responsibly).
LED-ILLUMINATED SHIFT LIGHT with turbo-boost gauge will flash in Sport mode as the engine speed approaches the redline - giving you immediate feedback during high-performance driving.
BLUE&ME Hands-Free Communication technology lets you operate a Bluetooth-compatible phone while keeping your hands on the wheel and use voice commands to make calls or listen to MP3s.
BOSE PREMIUM AUDIO SYSTEM produces high-performance sound through the standard Bose Energy Efficient Series (EES) premium audio system with six premium speakers and subwoofer.
SEVEN STANDARD AIR-BAGS include driver and front-passenger advanced multi-stage air bags, driver's knee air bag, full-length side-curtain air bags and standard seat-mounted side pelvic-thorax air bags.
STANDARD THREE-MODE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) and 4-Wheel Antilock Braking System (ABS) allow adaptability to changing driving conditions.
